Jeri Smith-Ready's This Side of Salvation

This Side of Salvation, a YA novel by 1991 Villanova English-Honors graduate Jeri Smith-Ready, has been named a top book of the year by the Texas Library Association.  Booklist calls the novel a "smart, well-rounded, and unpredictable tale" and  an "eye-opening look at the limits, uses, and misuses of faith."

Internships with Quirk Books

Quirk Books, located in Philadelphia’s Old City, is currently seeking interns for for the Spring 2015 semester (the internships are unpaid).  Quirk is especially interested in Villanova English majors.  To find out more about Quirk Books, click here.

1.  Marketing and Publicity Internship
Duties:
Assist with press mailings on a daily basis
Catalogue reports of media coverage into our database
Write 1-2 press and/or marketing materials with guidance from staff
Help research media contacts
Generate web content, i.e. excerpts, quizzes, fun facts, blog posts
Copying and filing
Qualifications:
English, journalism, marketing, or communications major or interest in major
Must be able to put in 15 hours per week minimum in at least 3 hour increments—welcome to intern more if available
Office experience a plus

2.  Social Media & Marketing Internship
Duties:
Research and build online media lists for upcoming titles
Help maintain our growing social niche communities
Create fun, innovative web content: Blog posts, Tumblr content, etc
Assist with mailings
Edit blog posts
Help maintain and update the company website
Qualifications:
English, journalism, marketing, or communications major or interest in major
Familiarity with and active presence on major social networking sites
Creative and professional writing skills

Remember that to receive credit for an internship, you must apply at the college’s Internship Office.

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission is now accepting applications from students who are interested in The 2015 Keystone Summer Internship Program.  Please visit the program's website here and follow these steps below:

4.      Towards the bottom of the page you will see a link “Keystone Internship Application”

The website says that “typically interns work Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours per day,” but there are circumstances in which there would be fewer total hours, though never below 20 hours per week.
