Falvey Library recently obtained a complete first edition of Dickens'
Nicholas Nickleby--as it was originally published in serial form. As Laura Bang, the library's Digital Humanities Coordinator and Special Collections Curatorial Assistant, explains, "The novel was published in 19 installments of 20 parts (with the last issue being a double issue) in 1839. It is in excellent condition and seems to have all advertisements intact (including a rather remarkable advertisement for wax seals that includes colorful samples of the seals on the page). This set was generously donated by the Midwestern Province of the Augustinian Order via Villanova's own Augustinian Historical Institute. We are hoping to digitize this soon."
